Peter Richardson Obituary

Peter "Pete" Richardson

Salisbury - Peter "Pete" Edward Richardson, 67, of Salisbury passed away at his home on Thursday, December 14, 2017. Born December 31, 1949, in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Vaughn E. Richardson and Mary Jane McMonigal Richardson. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Connie Gibson Richardson; one devoted daughter, Dana Catherine Richardson; two sisters, J. Maureen McAllister and Vicki Heland and husband Ken; a special mother-in-law, Bonnie Gibson; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Reddish, and Anne Marie Kanwisher and husband Bill; brother-in-law, Vincent Gibson and wife, Melissa. He was a devoted uncle to Colin and wife Stephanie and Kevin McAllister, Hannah, Elijah, and Micah Reddish, Amanda and Mark Gibson, Sara, Catherine, and Laura Kanwisher, Ava, Eliza, Oliver, and Everett McAllister. In addition to his immediate family, there are so many people whose lives he touched. Pete was a 1968 graduate of James M. Bennett High School and later graduated from Wheeling University. For 40 years, Pete owned and operated Pete Richardson Auction Sales in Willards. He credited much of his success to his dedicated team of employees. He was a member of the Wicomico County Liquor Control Board, Wicomico County Soil Conservation District, Past Board Member of Hebron Savings Bank, Life-time member of the Salisbury Gun Club, the Wicomico Yacht Club, Green Hill Country Club, Salisbury Elk's Lodge, Salisbury Moose Lodge, Maryland Standardbred Breeders Association, and the East Side Men's Club. Pete was an avid hunter, horseman, and fisherman, and Clemson Tiger fan. To all that knew Pete, he was mostly known as a legendary storyteller. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Vaughn Richardson, Jr., and Michael Richardson. He will be sadly missed by his loyal pugs, Teddy and Winston. A Life Well Celebrated service to honor Pete's life will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017, 11:00 AM, at The Fountain's Conference Center, 1800 Sweetbay Drive, Salisbury. The Reverend George Patterson will officiate. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at The Fountains Conference Center. Burial will be private. Pete loved his community and donated to many different organizations. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pete Richardson Charitable Fund, c/o Melodie Carter at the Hebron Savings Bank, 543 Riverside Dr., Salisbury, MD 21801, allowing the family to continue Pete's generosity throughout the community for years to come. I first met Pete at Ducks Unlimited Dinner in 1978, he was our auctioneer and I was a first time chairman of the annual dinner. He always did a wonderful job for our organization raising large sums of money for the preservation of wildfowl. He became a friend whom I admired very much for his ability to get the job done and reach for then next project. We all will miss such a dynamic person. My sympathies go out to the family. I had known Pete since we were young. He was always nice to me & I was shocked to hear of his passing. I graduated from Bennett in '66 and he graduated in '68, along with my wife Debbie. When I was in Vietnam in '67 I received a greeting or hello from the students at Bennett. Pete's signature was on the greeting. When I heard of his passing it brought back that memory of the greeting in '67.

You have our condolences.

I had the pleasure to get to know Pete just in the last few months . As his personal Trainer , we had great conversations on our morning walks , and he always assured me that his wife Connie only had healthy food in the house and was a wonderful cook , it was all those other little devils that tempted him during the day . Also as a animal rescue person , I realized his great compassion for his dogs and animals in need . He and Connie have helped many homeless and Shelter dogs ! He was so proud and adored his beautiful Daughter Dana . I will remember Pete as a loving Husband and Dad ! A Man with such a Giant personality ! You will be missed by so many !!

Pete will truly be missed. He was not only a great asset to his family - but - also to our entire community. So many great things that Pete did - like trying to educate the community when it came to current events. From farming, to development issues, Pete brought a cadre of experience to the table. My condolences extend out to his family - God Bless Him.

I'll miss Pete greatly. He was Eastern Shore through and through. He did business with my father and my uncle and for friends I have known and was always well recommended. I did business with Pete myself and never had reason to look back. He was one of us, not perfect, but still one of the best. People like him do not pass this way often. Pete was one of a kind. My prayers go out to his family.
