DOROTHY JEAN CONLEY
Dorothy Jean Conley, 94, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, in the Ridgeview Terrace Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born on December 9, 1930, in Toledo, OH, to the late Andrew and Lolita Jean (Flewelling) Herbert, who both preceded her in death.
On October 15, 1950, she married Howard Conley at United Church of Christ, Tiffin, OH, who preceded her in death on September 27, 2008.
Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Christine Stromberg of Franklin, NC; and four sons: Steven (Veronica) Conley of Delphos, OH, Jeffrey (Tammy) Conley of Bean Station, TN, Douglas (Lorinda) Conley of Ft. Myers, FL, and Todd (Tina) Conley of Alva, FL; seven grandchildren: Carly (Ryan) Page, Drew Stromberg, Matthew, Veronica Jean, and Tyler Conley, Erika (Perry) Nosker and Benjamin (Jackie) Conley; seven great-grandchildren: Aiden, Elijah, Cole, and Graham Nosker; Bentley, Hudson and Sawyer Page; a brother Ron Herbert and a sister-in-law Virginia Herbert both of Crossville, TN, a brother-in-law Ted Treon of Brooks, GA, and a sister-in-law Belle Conley of Morral, OH.
She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Dr. Christopher Stromberg, stepmother, Marie Herbert, brother Harry "Bud" Herbert, sisters Sharon Harkins and Judy Treon; in-laws: Roy and Opal Conley, James and Genevieve Conley, Russell Conley and David Harkins.
Dorothy graduated from Morral High School, Morral, OH, and attended Heidelberg College, Tiffin, OH. She split her time between being a stay-at-home mom, interior decorator, seamstress, realtor, and small business owner. She was a township clerk for Salt Rock Township, Marion County, OH.
Throughout the years, she was active in Welcome Wagon in Dover, OH; Women's Club in Marion, OH; and American Legion and Ladies Golf League in Blairsville, GA. Dorothy was also a volunteer at Union General Hospital and Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville, GA. She enjoyed playing Bridge, Euchre, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 1:30 pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Marion, OH. A reception to celebrate her life will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall from 2:00 to 5:00 pm.
