James McKowen Obituary

JAMES QUIN MCKOWEN James Quin 'Jim' McKowen, age 94, of Ft. Jennings, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025, at The Springs of Lima. He was born August 2, 1931, in Lima to Raymond McKowen and Olivia (Jettinghoff) McKowen, who both preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by Marjorie (Kennedy) McKowen, his mother, who raised him since he was 4 years old. On April 18, 1970, he married Lois Berelsman, who preceded him in death on February 4, 2017. He is survived by his brother, Michael (Barbara) McKowen of Lima; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Shirley Berelsman and John (Phyllis) VonSosson. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob (Betty) McKowen, Dan (Audry) McKowen, and Tim (Nancy) McKowen. Jim was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in Germany. He had taught school in the Ft Jennings school district. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, a life member of the Delphos K of C Council #1362, which was named after his father, Ray. Jim was an avid golfer and card player. He was the head groundskeeper at Delphos Country Club in his retirement and then took care of the grounds for the St. Joseph Church. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rev. Ron Schock, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, with Military Graveside Rites. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church prior to mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice. Weber Funeral Home, Delphos, was trusted with the services for Jim. Online condolences may be shared at weberfh.net
