Kathie Thatcher Obituary

KATHIE S. THATCHER Kathie S. Thatcher, age 75, of Delphos, went home to be with the Lord, at 7:52 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2024. She was born June 11, 1949, in Lima, Allen County, Ohio to the late Bernard Ralph and Martha Jane "Pat" Johnston Hefner. Kathie was a 1967 graduate of Elida High School and went on to earn a BA in Education from Ohio State University. She furthered her education with a Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Dayton. Kathie dedicated her professional life to serving others as a special education teacher at Delphos Jefferson City Schools, where she retired. She was a proud member of the National Education Association and a dedicated tutor for the Lima Literacy Council. Additionally, she generously volunteered her time with the American Cancer Society. A faithful member of the Lima Community Church of the Nazarene, Kathie had been deeply involved in various church ministries. She participated in the blanket ministry, assisted with stuffing inserts for Cross Talks, and was actively involved in the Pacesetters Journey Community. Her faith and church were central to her life, providing her with a source of strength and purpose. Kathie will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her faith, and her community. Kathie leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Ian Douglas (Rachel) Thatcher of Lancaster; her brother, Scott Allen (Rene) Hefner of Lima; and her nephews Chad Hefner, Ryan Hefner, Cody Hefner, and Cory Hefner. She is also survived by her great nieces and nephews, Cole, Carleigh, Jessie, Evelyn, Elyse, Avery, Brady, Celeste, Augie, and great-great nieces and nephews Raelyn, Ryliegh, and Lane, all of whom she cherished deeply. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 14, 2024, at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Rev. Justin Braun will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. The family will receive friends Friday, from 11:00 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Lima Community Church of the Nazarene's Teen Ministries.
