Lynette Wilson Obituary

Lynette Eileen Wilson
September 22, 1956 - September 6, 2025
Lynette Eileen Wilson passed away September 6, 2025 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was 68 years old.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 12th at 10 a.m. at Mesa View Cemetery. Followed by a reception at First Baptist Church on Pioneer Rd.
Lynette was born on September 22, 1956 in Grand Junction, CO to Lila Deniston and Floyd Broughton. She grew up in Delta, CO and graduated from Delta High School with the class of 1974. After high school she worked as a secretary for Calhoun and Associates.
Lynette met Howard Wilson in junior high through a church singing group, and their connection quickly grew into a lifelong partnership. They were married on December 18, 1976, sharing 55 years together and celebrating 48 years of marriage. In their early years, they enjoyed weekends at the lake, where they spent time water skiing and relaxing at the family cabin on Trout Lake.
After the birth of their first child, Michelle, Lynette dedicated herself to being a full-time homemaker, farm wife, and the secretary for B&W Insulation, the family business. A few years later, she also became an Amway Independent Business Owner. Their family was complete with the arrival of their second child, Doug, six years later. Lynette was always actively involved in her children's lives-attending dance recitals, FFA events, and countless baseball, basketball, and football games.
Olathe was where they made their home, operating both B&W Insulation and a family farm. Lynette had a deep love for family and a passion for gardening, canning, farming, afternoon Jeep rides, and music. She sang on her church's praise team and was a cherished member of the musical group "Potter's Clay." She especially loved vacationing-beaches being her favorite destination.
Becoming a grandmother brought Lynette immense joy. Affectionately known as "Nama," she was blessed with three grandchildren, whom she helped care for while her son and daughter-in-law worked full-time. She delighted in teaching them songs, helping with reading and writing, including them in the kitchen, and playing with them outdoors. As they grew, she continued to show up-never missing a game, recital, or special milestone.
Lynette's nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family. She was a second mom to many-caring not only for her children and grandchildren but also for numerous nieces and nephews. "Netty's house" was always a place of comfort, support, and love. She had a gift for hosting, and her home was the heart of many family gatherings and holiday celebrations.
She is survived by her husband, Howard, of Olathe; daughter, Michelle Wilson of Olathe; son, Doug and Kylynn Wilson of Delta; sister, Cathy and Steve Barger of Fruita; sister, Nancy and Ross Kirkham of Austin; grandchildren, Avery, Colter, and Mazie Wilson of Delta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Broughton and her mother, Lila Broughton.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
