Betty Lou Rumbaugh (Fawcett) (Beckett)
Betty Lou Rumbaugh (Fawcett) (Beckett) passed away Saturday June 12, 2021 after a long illness. During her last year, Betty was under hospice care in Lubbock, TX, given the best quality of life possible. Betty lived in Deming, NM during two periods of her life with husband Roy Rumbaugh. The couple moved to Tucumcari, NM in 1962 and after a few years, returned to Deming where Roy was the hospital and nursing home administrator. Betty returned to school as an adult, getting her Masters and Doctorate in Education and was a Deming school district teacher and administrator. After her life with Roy, Betty married again to Dale Fawcett and the couple lived in Alamo, TX until his death when her granddaughter Kendra Rumbaugh and her family moved Betty to assisted care in Lubbock. Betty is preceded in death by her parents Sue and Jack Beckett, three brothers, Jack Beckett, Bob Beckett, and Tom Beckett. She has been and always will be, a Beckett. Betty is survived by son Richard Rumbaugh, daughter Janet Rumbaugh, and grandchildren Kendra Rumbaugh, Brent Hassman, Charlotte Blackburn and Wesley Rumbaugh along with great grandchildren. Betty will be laid to rest in her real home of Deming. There will be a graveside memorial on July 23, 2021 at 10:00AM at the Deming cemetery when Roy and Betty will be given to rest. Casual dress is requested, as the day will probably be warm. Chairs will be provided only to family.
