We meet a lot of people, both good and not so good, on our journey through life, but Leonard was one of the really good guys. Him being from Chicago and me from St Louis, we would kid a lot about the Cardinals and Cubs (although I'm not so sure he was kidding). He will leave a lasting memory on those of us that were priviliged to know him. God speed!

We moved to Las Cruces in 2007 and Leonard became a father figure, mentor, card playing buddy and introduced me to single malt scotch.
I learned more about the depression, WWII, Chicago and of course the Cubs from him than any school teacher or book.
He was the most active person in The Boulders with season tickets to most of the Aggie games, the symphony, Lions Club and Tuesday night cards.
Ruth and I missed him when he moved back to Silver City and said our good byes in May celebrating his 98th birthday in his house.
RIP Leonard and Va Ya Con Dios.

Leonard volunteered every Friday from 9-12 at WNMU Museum. I was the Museum Manager at the time and we spent time during slow periods learning about each other. He had made it a point to know as much as possible about Mimbres culture and led visitors on an informative tour of the collections. My best memories are visiting 3-4 grade schools in costume retelling living history from the perspective of the character. He, a Medal of Honor winner from Ft. Bayard and I, one of the first school teachers. I admired and loved that man.
