Lynn Yvonne Hays Barth

Deming - Lynn Yvonne Hays Barth was born October 2, 1958 in Deming, NM and finished her lessons in this life February 10, 2021 in Albuquerque. She was 62. She was a loyal mother, social worker, sister and friend.

She attended Deming High School and graduated with a Bachelor's in English from Abilene Christian University. She taught English for a short time before becoming a social worker, working for Child Protective Services in the 1980s. She was diagnosed with lupus and did disputed custody and adoption home studies before retiring for health reasons in 2018.

She was an active participant in the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches, for whom she also worked. She was a member of Exodus, Harvest, and Lubbock MCCs, where she preached many sermons and attended countless conferences. She had a strong faith in God, an unwavering belief in justice, and loved her family very much.

She is preceded in death by Beverly Powers of Lubbock, her partner of over 20 years; her parents, Helen Marie Moore Hays and Lee Roy Hays, her nephew, David Ray Hays, her brother, Jerry Hays, her twin sister, Marie Yvette Hays Hurley, and her half-sister Heather Lee Hays, all of Deming.

She is survived by her son, Travis A. Barth of Denton, TX, her sister and brother-in-law Catherine and Garry Ruebush, her brother-in-law Mike Hurley, (all of Deming), her ex-husband Marc Barth of Dallas, her daughter-in-law Melanie Barth of Denton, her half-sister and brother-in-law, Hannah and Isaac Dorrance of Montgomery, TX; three nephews, four nieces, and 13 great-nieces and nephews.

She always told her son to "Love as much as you can from wherever you are," and would want anyone reading this to do the same.

Private graveside service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Deming, March 20th at 2pm with a memorial service to follow for friends and family in the conference room at Oyo Hotel at 3pm. Covid-19 restrictions will apply- masks and social distancing required, no food. Live streaming will be available.
