Andrew Cappella Obituary

Cappella, Andrew W.

Rochester: Andrew Walter Cappella, 64, passed away in Lexington KY while receiving treatment for glioblastoma brain cancer. He was preceded in death by his mother Marjorie Miriam (Reams) as well as his father, Richard Cappella of Punxsutawney, PA.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Jo (Sviland) Cappella of Escanaba, MI; son, Richard Lee Cappella and wife, Deana Humble; son, Andrew Ross Cappella and wife, Katie Florczak and grandson, Jack. He is also survived by brothers, Richard (Janice) Cappella and Michael (Jane) Cappella and sister, Kathleen Cappella and many nieces and nephews.

Andrew served in the United States Coast Guard from 1972 to 1976 and was stationed in Escanaba, MI which is where he and Jo met and started their life together. He was additionally stationed at the Sandusky OH Search and Rescue Station.

Andrew worked as a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers, B&O Chessie System, and Universal Well Services. After going to Penn State in DuBois, PA and the Behrend College in Erie, PA he was employed as a Plastics Engineer by Kodak, Arnprior, Bausch & Lomb and for Lexmark.

Andrew was an amazing son, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle and neighbor. His sense of humor and his love for his family are just two of the things which made him a special man. Andy was a kind, gentle, good, compassionate man who also had a passion for cars and was meticulous, detailed, thorough in everything he did. He will be missed by many.

Andy and Jo attended the Southland Christian Church in Lexington KY

Friends, Co-workers and Family may call Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 12:00 PM (noon) to 2:00 PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services (3325 Winton Rd. So.) where at 2:00 PM his funeral service will be celebrated in the Interfaith Chapel at Miller's. Interment at Ascension Garden Cemetery in Henrietta Monday 11:00 AM

Jo, sorry for your loss. I served with Andy in Sandusky and had been to your house many times. I also went to school with one of your cousins in Iron River. Been looking for people I served with, few years too late for Andy. Wish you well, good luck.
