I was at a loss for words when I found out that Mr. Dupra had passed. I had a hard time in elemantary school until I met Mr. Dupra, he understood me, he helped me open up. I was very quiet in school and didnt talk very much, but I do believe that Mr. Dupra helped me to come out of my shell. i made some really good friends in REACH. He will truly missed and remembered as the wonderful person that he was.

Mr. Dupra was one of the best teachers that I have ever had. I always write about him when it comes to one of the most inspiring people that have touched my life. He will be greatly missed and it is such a terrible thing to have someone who was a great person pass away. Quest wouldn't be the same without him and I am greatly honored to have known such a great person such as Mr. Dupra. I will keep his family in my prayers and I am deeply sorry for their loss.

Mr. Dupra was one of the most influential individuals in my young life. I was honored as a kid to be part of REACH with some of my best friends in school, and some of the most memorable things from Elementary School had him right by our side. I truly enjoyed his guidance, company, and conversations, and it's always in retrospect that you realize you wish you would have gone back to visit more often. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Darrel, you were with me every step of my life. You were my favorite teacher's husband, a faithful and loyal regular while I waitressed through college, the man that asked the questions at my first professional interview, and my teaching partner when I got the best job I've ever had. I don't know where so may people would be right now if it weren't for your presence in their lives. I know that I am a better, more creative, and daring person because you helped guide me as a mentor and friend.
Love you, Anita Ricci ( even though you always called me Skillings)

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Dupra family and friends. Mr. D was my sixth grade teacher in the inaugural year of QUEST. He always found a way to motivate and inspire the students in his classroom. His memory will live on forever in the minds of all the students who had the privilege to work with him. You will be greatly missed Mr. D.

Mr. D was an inspired and inspiring teacher. He had a special knack for meeting kids where they were, and then challenging and helping them to become so much more. He made learning fun and cool - we were always excited to spend our lunches working on REACH projects. He knew how to relate to his students better than any other teacher I have ever worked with, and always made us feel valued and respected as individual people and individual thinkers, regardless of how young we were. I hope that my students will remember me half as fondly as I remember Mr. D. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. D's family and friends. Mr. D worked with me as a student in the REACH program in the first year of quest. Some of my fondest memories from school came from the time when Mr. D worked with me. I can't remember much of what I did during my 6th grade year, except for working with Mr. D during lunch time and all of the learning and projects that we did. I also remember that he was one reason I looked forward to coming to school everyday. Teachers like Mr. D are the reason that people get into education and kids enjoy coming to school.

I was shocked to read about Darrell when I returned from vacation. He was a true Renaissance man in many respects & his dedication to improving education for all his students was truly legendary. He was the REACH teacher for both of my children. I was proud to work with him and his colleagues as he strove to make QUEST a reality. His memory will continue to be an inspiration to many & I miss him already.

My sons had Darrel as their REACH teacher. He was such an inspiration to them and to me, as well. When QUEST became a reality, both Jason & Steven were very excited to be part of the inaugural class. Darrel enriched all of the lives he touched. My family's thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Darrel will always remain an inspiration to me as a teacher and a guiding light to me as a person. Both our school and our world owe an enormous appreciation to Darrel for the way he lived so fully, always staying true to his convictions. He was a beacon of devotion. I miss you, Darrel.

I had the distinct pleasure of knowing and working with Darrel at the Village Elementary School. We were both hired the same year and found out that we both graduated from high school the same year, too. We'd joke back and forth about being from the Class of '67. Darrel was an outstanding teacher because he listened: to his students and to his colleagues. He was compassionate and passionate about his responsibilities as a teacher. He epitomized the mission statement of the district - being a lifelong learner. I could not believe it when I heard about his passing. He was always a "grab Life by the horns" kind of guy. There is a hole in my heart with his passing. He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. You are not alone in your grief.

Our prayers go out to Darrel's family. To hear the loss of such a wonderful inspirational man, was truly heartbreaking. It was an honor for my two girls to have had Mr. "D" for their Quest teacher for 5 wonderful years. He was their mentor, their friend. The positive impact he had on all our lives will stay with us forever. He will be dearly missed and our hearts go out to his children whom he adored as much as life itself.

He who teaches with such love.....is loved by those who he teaches... Mr. D - you will be greatly missed (Jenna & Kayla)

In my last 7 years working at Quest, I was not surprised to see Darrell's exceptional devotion to the kids because for 10 years before that he brought his class to Hilton-East for the intergenerational program we created together. He was faithful to the program, put so much energy into it and brought so much joy to the residents - he truly cared about them - even visiting them when they were hospitalized or transferred to a nursing home. He just never, ever let people down. Bonnie Beiswenger (Brockport, NY_

How do you say goodbye to the best teacher and mentor my children ever had? How do you say goodbye to a man that from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every day for six consecutive years, influenced the lives of my kids? It's difficult to put into words what this man and teacher meant to the Johnson family. He was definitely one of a kind , and we are thankful he considered us a part of his extended family. He was certainly a part of ours.

I was so fond of Mr. D and he was an inspiration to everyone whose life he touched, especially mine. He provided me with the single most valuable piece of advice several years ago, "Don't let anyone tell you as your kids get older that they don't need you. They'll need you even more. Hold on tight..." Thank you Mr. D for your wisdom. I pray for the peace and comfort that surpasses all understanding to surround your family today and in the coming days. May God bless you richly and hold you in the palm of His great and merciful hand.

I was very saddened to learn today that Mr. Dupra had passed away. I had the wonderful opportunity to work with him as his student teacher from January to March of 2006. The two of us and his 4th-6th graders had a great time working on a lighthouse unit that I created as well as a weather unit. Mr. Dupra told me to pick units that I was interested in, and both turned out to be a success. He will be greatly missed!

I never had the pleasure of working with Darrel, but witnessed first hand what an extraordinary person and teacher he was. He took my brother Aaron under his wing in elementary school and changed him from a bored, pain in the butt kid, to a creative and motivated student. Darrel was truly an inspiration. To this day my brother who is 34, still talks about his favortite teacher, Mr. Dupra. Your family is in the thoughts and prayer of my family.

Our family is deeply saddened to hear the news of Mr. Dupra's passing. "Mr. D." had my son Jack in fifth grade, which turned out to be Mr. D's last year at Quest. We will forever remember the impression that he made, and be grateful for the brief time we had with him. I recall the thank you card I wrote him, containing these words: "Mr. D. you not only inspired his my son to be a better student, but you also inspired me to be a better teacher and a better parent." There will never be another teacher like him.

We feel blessed to have known him and our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Darrel was my friend, my mentor and the most amazing educator I have ever worked with. I loved every minute of our Friday morning breakfasts together discussing families, life, love and teaching. "Mr. D." leaves behind a legacy of students, families and collegues who are forever changed by his love and dedication. I am so sorry for your loss and hope that you know how very much your husband/father influenced my life and the lives of many others. My sincerest condolences...

Darrel Dupra taught my daughter in the Enrichment Program in Hilton and he gave her the courage to strive to become all she can. She is at this moment in Middlebury,VT working on her doctorate in MFL and will be heartbroken to realize that Mr. Dupra is gone. He was a gentle teacher with the wisdom to know when to let the kids explore ideas on their own and when to step in for guidance. She patterns her own teaching on his style. Our prayers are with his family at this time.
