Dear Youngblood Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Gene but not like many others. Hearing their testimonials and stories, makes me wish I had taken the time to know him better. You can be proud to have had him in your lives. Kling to the memories and lessons learned and look to those left behind for comfort.
You're all in my prayers!

Dear Barbara & family,
My sincere sympathy to you all. Word of Gene's passing spread quickly throughout his many Kodak retiree friends and the Monroe County fire community. How sad that he is gone at only age 69.
I shall always picture this big guy standing knee deep in firefighting foam and smoke on his job at old Kodak Park Building 145 as my Kodak firefighting crews rolled up to one of the many fires there over the years. Gene was always cool, calm and understanding of what we had to do to bring things under control.
His grand sense of humor and dedication to his job at Eastman and his beloved Chili Fire Department as past chief will live on forever as part of his legacy. He was always on top of things, and a delight to talk with over coffee, at meetings, or in the beer tent following a warm summer evening parade.
As we picked up our hoses and equipment and got back into service at his workplace, he'd often turn to me and say in his familiar deep voice, "From one Gene to another, job well done."
Well Mr. Youngblood, from one Gene to another, job well done to you too my friend. Rest easy old buddy.
Gene Preston, retired KFD deputy chief

Frank and I will always miss Gene, as will our Christine and David and their families. To lose a sibling, is to lose a part of yourself.

Gne, if I could, I would sent you a text right now as we so often did, and ask how things are where you now are. Since I cannot, I will just imagine that you have been accepted into the waiting arms of God and then into the arms of Mom, Grandma, Pat and Janet. I'm sure you are all celebrating your arrival - dancing and singing and have a wonderful time together. Hug them all for me, until one day, when we meet again.
