Margaret Horrocks Obituary

Horrocks, Margaret Jobes

Avon / Conesus Lake: Aged 66, passed into the arms of Jesus at Strong Memorial Hospital on May 11, 2013. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Gary Allen Horrocks; mother, Helen Boden Jobes, and father, Marvin Harold Jobes Sr. She is survived by her sons and their spouses: John Thomas & Paulette Horrocks, and Mark William & Mylissa Horrocks; and her 7 lively grandchildren; Collin, Tony, Alyssa and Amanda, and Bella, Izaiah and Samuel Horrocks; brother, Marvin Jobes Jr.; and cousin, Georgia Boardman.

Margaret was deeply loved by so many in her home community in Avon, where she was an active member of St Agnes Catholic Church. She was seen often delivering food to the needy as well as helping annually with the St. Agnes Church yard sale. She and Gary were also deeply loved in her son Mark's community of Memphis. Both Margaret and Gary helped with Habitat for Hope (her son's ministry) and deeply loved all they met in Memphis. Her many lifelong friends remember her as filled with grace, love and humility. Full of energy nearly till the end of her life, and always enjoying fun moments, she was a caregiver, companion and example to her 7 grandchildren.

Friends are invited to call Thursday, 4-7pm at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 350 Genesee St., Avon. Her Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday at 10am at St. Agnes church, Avon. Interment, St. Agnes Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Habitat for Hope, to support the housing program that Margaret dearly loved, 2041 Locke-Cuba Rd, Millington, TN 38053.

I just want to inquire about my little friends that brought so much joy to my patients: 1. Collin the little guy (?3yrs old)who taught he was a teenager, the precious moments of watching you feed your great grand mother lunch or dinner at the hospital were priceless. 2. My precious little Bella, I have always wondered what a beautiful kid you have grown to be! I have always prayed that God will use your little life to do amazing things in His kingdom after giving a Wholistic healing. I know that you are ok because my God is faithful.
God bless you and the other grandchildren. Love you all.

Meg, as I put this entry, my tears are rolling in balls;I can not believe you are gone! I never forget you for one day since Gary died! I had always planned to come take you out for lunch so that we could talk,we didn't get to do that, and that's why my tears are rolling uncontrollably. I met you as the daughter in-law of my then patient Dorris Horrcks and also her husband your father in-law. You were so kind and caring to these couple that I had to call you out and ask you if they were your own parents! Your response was that they were too good to you and treated you like their own child. I wished anyone a daughter in-law like you. I wished I knew when you were at SMH, I could have come to spend every night with you!The pain of your passing is too much on me, but I still will thank the Almighty for the life you lived and for crossing my path. Your family was so well knit and loving, I pray they continue like that; John and Mark, I know this is a very difficult time in your lives, but you were blessed with the most wonderful and caring parents in the World; they both died at a young age. I am speaking into your lives that no one in that family until a good ripe old age in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen. I am praying the blessings of God (Deut. 28)on the lives of you children and grandchildren of Gary and Meg in Jesus' Name. The Peace of God which passes all understanding shall be with you all.

Margaret was truly a special person...She helped others often and was loved by her family and friends. I did not know Margaret for very long, but she touched me in the few years that I did know her. My sympathies go out to Margaret's family and her many friends.
