Rochester: Marion Saeli Ullrich was born to Antonio Saeli and Frances Barone Saeli on August 3, 1923 in Rochester, NY. She died peacefully of natural causes on January 11, 2017 in Rochester, NY. She was preceded in death by her sister, Anita Saeli Weigelt, and her brother, Anthony Saeli. She is survived by her brother, John Saeli (Maria) of Sugar Grove, IL, and Agnes Saeli Anderson of Rochester, NY. She married George A. Ullrich in 1948. George died in 2003. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark J. Ullrich (Linda). She is survived by her son, Christopher G. Ullrich MD FACR (Betsy) of Charlotte, NC, and daughters, Janet M. Ullrich of Fairport, NY and Deborah Ullrich Simpson (Jeff) of Merida, Mexico. She was devoted to her family.

Marion was a near life long member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Humbolt St. She graduated from the old East High School, The University of Toronto (BA), and the University of Rochester (MS). She was a classically trained musician who played the cello and the piano. She was trained in part at the Hochstein School of Music. She was first cellist in the Rochester Inter High School Orchestra, and she organized a string quartet. Along with George, she enjoyed classical music throughout her life. Her professional career was predominately focused on social work, primarily children and adults with developmental disabilities, including children with autism. She was very gratified by this work. George was a high school science teacher at Monroe HS, and later a science teacher and department head at John Marshall HS. Together they served the Rochester community for more than 30 years.

Being a "Child of the Depression", she took great interest in managing family finances, spending wisely, and providing properly for the future. Like many members of her generation, she saved lots of things because "she might need them later". The ability to be intensely focused on solving problems was characteristic. She was also generous, loving, and very interested in the success of each of her children. She was a loving mother-in-law and a friend. She looked forward to each family gathering in Rochester. She did not enjoy traveling.

On Saturday, April 22, 2017, Crawford Funeral Home, 495 N. Winton Road will be the venue for a 4 PM informal Memorial Service to celebrate Marion's life, and for a family visitation from 2:30 to 5 PM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery will be private.
