Albion: Melanie Anne Kent was born in Richmond, CA on June 24, 1947 and was welcomed to the Angels' Heavenly Choir June 2, 2017, after a mercifully brief struggle with cancer, surrounded by her family, while her favorite song by Patsy Cline was playing "Sweet Dreams of You".

Melanie leaves her mother, Virginia Grace Johnston Kent VanApeldoorn; a sister, Celia Kiewit; brothers, Gary (Grace), Kevin (the late Joanne) and Keith (Lisa); three uncles and two aunts, several nieces, nephews and many friends, but especially Adrienne Daniels and Harriette Greaser.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 W. Avenue, Albion, Thursday, June 8, from 4:00-8:00 PM. Melanie's Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Parish on Friday, June 9, at 10:00, followed by interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
