Peter Uhlein Obituary

Peter Michael Uhlein

Rochester - Passed away peacefully on March 29th, after a long, courageous battle with lung cancer. He was a fighter until the end. Through the highs and lows, Peter never complained; always up for an intimate gathering of friends & family. He especially loved his pool time and gardens.

Peter was blessed with access to unbelievable care. A new trial could provide another six months. A year become two, two years became four. We are especially proud of his contribution to trial research, being just the second person to enroll in his most recent treatment.

Peter was born in Watertown, October of 1965. He is the son of the late John and Sally Uhlein. He graduated from Berkshire School and went on to earn his Bachelors at Hobart and William Smith Colleges and his MBA at St. John Fisher. Peter grew up in a loving house, filled with five siblings, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends.

Peter is survived by his husband, Jon Schick; sons, Christopher and Alexander; his favorite nap mates, Duke and Sol; brothers, Jay (Watertown) and Jeffrey (Colorado); sisters, Kathy Killary (Tennessee) and Kristin Uhlein Tufo (Florida); mother-in-law, Nancy Schick. He is predeceased by his brother, John

Special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Massachusetts General Hospital and Wilmot Cancer Center at U of R Medical Center. Deepest gratitude is extended to Dr. Alice Tsang Shaw and Dr. Jessica Lin, MGH and Dr. Michael Milano and Dr. Anthony Pietropaoli, URMC and especially our many wonderful friends who are Family. We could not have done this without you!

Friends may call Thursday, April 5th, 4-8 PM at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.). A Funeral Service will be held Friday, 11 AM at First Unitarian Church, 220 S. Winton Road. lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Lung Cancer Foundation, 1100 Industrial Rd #1, San Carlos, CA 94070 or Verona Street Animal Society, PO Box 22874, Rochester, NY 14692. Please accept my dearest and heartfelt sympathy; I am so sorry for your loss. May the God who "binds up the brokenhearted" and "comforts all who mourn" sustain your family during this challenging time. (Isaiah 61:1,2)
