Richard Arfman Obituary
Penfield: Wed., Jan. 20, 2016, age 92. Predeceased by his first wife, Christine M. Rumpff Arfman, and second wife, Ann Pankiw Arfman. He leaves his sons, Robert C. (Peggy L.) Arfman M.D. and Douglas R. Arfman LPN; his grandson, Aaron M. (Echo Zhao) Arfman of Shanghai, China; 2 great-granddaughters, Naomi and Molly; sister, Laura Parker; brother, Kenneth; nieces and nephews. Dick was a U.S. Navy Veteran, retiree of General Dynamics with 20 years of service, and a long-time member of the Webster United Church of Christ and Irondequoit United Church of Christ.
Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Rochester. Dick had a very long, meaningful and productive life.

My husband, Larry and I send our condolences to the extended Arfman family on your loss. I am the niece of "Uncle Dick", Mary Hanley Machacek. I have many fond memories growing up of our trips to see him. I am so glad to have talked to him this past year. I will most remember his positive outlook great sense of humor and especially his laugh...like him, it's one Ina million. Larry and I will miss him.

I served with Dick as a counselor for Score. Although I was a newer member always enjoyed Dick's enthusiasm and dedication to our mission of helping new businesses.Dick's voice and smile will be missed.

On behalf of the members of the Canandaigua Yacht Club, I want to extend our condolences and sympathy to Dick's family and friends. Dick, and Ann, were longtime members and active sailors -- "old salts" or "ancient mariners" as these types of sailors are affectionately described.
My wife, Columba, and I joined CYC in 1970. We are "ancient mariners" and knew Dick and Ann for many many years and enjoyed socializing with them. They were delightful people, always friendly with enjoyable conversation.
The CYC Board of Governors has made a donation to the CYC Sailors Memorial Fund in Dick's honor. A donation was previously made when Ann passed. This fund is used in various ways to enhance our club for the enjoyment of all the members.
