Robert Merritt Obituary
Rochester: Died suddenly of a heart attack on January 19, 2008, two days after his 61st birthday. Predeceased by his father, Thomas, Robert is survived by his son, Nathaniel (fiancée Leah); his mother, Marjorie, and sister, Jane Lynn.
Robert was a devoted and loving father. After graduating from SUNY Brockport, he dedicated his career to caring for mentally ill children and adults at the Rochester Psychiatric Center and was an avid film and music collector. He will be missed greatly by his family, friends, co-workers, and the people he cared for.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 26 at 3:00pm at the Interfaith Chapel at the University of Rochester River Campus on Wilson Boulevard. In remembrance of Robert, contributions can be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 320 N. Goodman Street, Ste. 102, Rochester, NY 14607.

Berry dam picnics, pet snakes in the cage Daddy built, Ben Hur for the 23rd time and counting by 1961, a vast knowledge of film scores and their composers and always the music. These are just some of the good memories I have of our shared life. Peace.

Nathaniel, If you can, please contact me. I grew up with your Dad and we were very close as children. I loved him dearly and was shocked to hear of his passing. Although we had lost touch in our older years as we gravitated toward family and career, I still have many a story about our fun times together. It was a long time ago but I have such happy memories of Paul. I remember him in my prayers. Aunt Jane also sends her condolences. She remembers what a beautiful child he was and how he was so loved by Marge and Tom.

Worked many years with Bob - kind hearted, great with the patients who loved him, his son was the love of his life. Seems as if I knew him he spoke of him often. Sorry to hear the sad news and he will be missed

I will always have happy memories of Paul. He was funny, thoughtful and a loving, concerned father to my nephew, Nathaniel.
