Roger Clementi
Clifton Springs: Roger Clementi Gifford, age 89, died Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home.
Roger was born in Clifton Springs on August 7, 1926, the son of the late Charles and Alithea Gifford. He was a veteran of WWII serving in Italy. He was a longtime employee of Blue Cross/Blue Shield and involved in a number of civic and church activities. He served on the Vestry of St. John's Episcopal Church as well as acting as lay reader. He was past secretary of the Riverview Cemetery, and at one time Treasurer of the Clifton Springs Historical Society. Roger was especially proud to be the third great-grandson of Muzio Clementi, the Pianist and Composer.
Roger is survived by his brother, Fred (Verna) Gifford; sister-in-law, Jean Gifford; nieces, Linda (Larry) Goss, Kristin (Andy) Reinhardt, Heidi (David) Schoenthaler and Katrina (Dana) Egburston; nephews, F. Ronald Gifford, Barbara Gifford and Erik (Christina) Gifford. Roger also leaves behind his very special friends, John and Joyce Wootton, and his fellow classmates with whom he had a close association.
A Celebration of Roger's life will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church in Clifton Springs on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11am with burial to follow in the Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the organ fund may be sent to St. John's Episcopal Church, PO Box 622, Clifton Springs, NY 14432. Arrangements by the R. A. Patrick Funeral Home, Clifton Springs. Roger is predeceased by two younger brothers, Frank and Gerald.

Roger was our neighbor for years on Pearl Street in Clifton Springs. He was always extremely kind-hearted and always full of informative life 'tid-bits' to share. Once I was complaining about stacking wood in the heat of summer and he reminded me how you had to "sweat in the summer to be warm in the winter"-I'll never forget his words. To Roger's family,
I am sorry for your loss. I worked with Roger at Blue Cross Blue Shield in the Statistics Dept. as a young kid and worked with Verne Moore, Sylvia Strassle and Mike O'Reilly. They all taught me, the best things. Roger would always help me to gain confidence in myself and had such a kind heart. I have often thought about those days and what a positive influence Roger was.
