Roger Ryan Obituary
Mt. Pleasant, SC: 68, peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 in Charleston, South Carolina.
He was born May 1, 1946 in Nunda, NY to the late Ms. Sarah (DePuy) Ryan and the late Mr. Lawrence P Ryan.
Roger and Darla were married for over 46 years and moved to the Lowcountry 17 years ago from Nunda, NY. He served two years in the U.S. Army and was a business administrator at Keshequa Central School and retired after 24 years. After retirement he bought homes to refurbish and sell in the Charleston area. Roger enjoyed golfing, reading, traveling and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was member of the Nunda Station Masonic Lodge, a former Rotary member and a Paul Harris Society recipient. He was very active in his home church and his family will remember him as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Darla (Underwood) Ryan, Mount Pleasant, SC, one son; Andrew D. Ryan (Quinn), of Crescent, PA, one daughter; Maeghan E. Ryan (Mike), of Summerville, SC, eight grandchildren; Delaney, Alec, Chase, Gabriel, Hayden, Parker, Ethan and Silas, and many other loving friends and family members.
A Memorial Service will be held at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 2:00 PM. A memorial service will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family at Trinity Church of Nunda.
Memorial donations may be made in his honor to Trinity Church of Nunda, 25 East Street, Nunda, NY 14517 or the charity of one's choice. Expressions of sympathy may be viewed or submitted online at www.McAlister-Smith.com.
