I had the honor and privilege of meeting Sammy about 4 years ago as one of his first customers at his then new shop in Penfield. I was quite pleased to find out that he was a fellow brother in Christ. He was such a bold witness for the Lord. I recall on two separate occasions,that because of problems I was having, he stopped right in the middle of my haircut and prayed for me right then and there!! you will be missed very much.
I love you brother.

I had the privilege of getting to know Sam at the Barber shop over the past few years. I realized very quickly what a kind and generous person Sam was. Sam supported Penfield girls soccer and always asked how they were doing. Sam showed nothing but courage and faith when talking about his illness. He was a very special man. He will be missed.

Shirley and I send our deepest sympathy in your loss of Sam. In addition to being the best barber that I ever had,he
always used his friendly personality to make others feel good. He never dwelled on his very serious illness but always focused on the concerns of others ."Hanging in there" and "one day at a time" were Sam's reply to "how are you Sam"? He will surely be missed by all he touched.
Sincerely;
Jim & Shirley Isaac

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sam's family. When I moved to Rochester finding Sam was more than finding a great barber. He gave me great advice while I was starting my family sharing with me his experiences with his own family. His humor was always appreciated and will be forever remembered.
God bless you Sam

Dear Pam, Marissa, Jessie, Sarabeth and family,
Whenever someone dies, it is a sad and difficult time but when a man like Sam dies, you cannot help but feel the greatness of the tragedy. To say he was a wonderful, giving, uplifting man, would be to only touch upon his greatness. He will be sadly missed. His many kindnesses to my father (Sam) and his wife, Genievieve cannot be counted. And I often told him how grateful I was. I am comforted in knowing that he is reunited with my dad and with Auntie who will welcome him warmly. This gives me great comfort. Our hearts and our prayers are with you all as you walk this path and seek the comfort of family during this sad time. We love you all very much. Recently I was given a card with a special story that reminded me of Uncle Sam. It is an inspiring story of a boy who was seen throwing star fish into the ocean, but what makes it so inconceivable is that the shoreline was covered in them because they had washed ashore due to low tide. The man who witnessed the boy approached him and asked him why he was doing what he was doing, and the boy replied that the starfish would die because of lack of oxygen so he had to get them back into the water. The man was puzzled, and said "I understand. But there must be thousands of starfish on this beach and you can't possibly get to all of them here let alone this must be happening all up and down this coast, you can't possibly make a difference!" The boy smiled, then bent down and picked up yet another starfish and threw it back into the water and replied,"Made a difference to that one"! And that is what Uncle Sam did not only to me personally, but to all of the people who were blessed to have known him, he made a difference in all of our lives.
His infectious smile and jovial demeanor made him respected by so many. He was a man who was blessed immeasurably with an enormous family of loved ones and close friends who all have our own stories and memories to remember him by. Being comforted by his gentle soul was always an enriching experience and never could one walk away without internalizing and taking what words he spoke to heart. He made you think, always putting things into perspective, even during trying times.
Our lives here on earth will be missing something so significant because of our loss, but our responsibility to him, out of respect as being those he loved, is to honor and his beliefs, courage, generosity, faith, and wisdom that is already seen in his beautiful daughters, his beloved wife, and close friends and family.
I am going to miss him immensely; he was all I had left of my grandmother. His facial expressions and the things he said brought her back to life for me and so to Marissa, Jessica, and Sarabeth, you will be my special reminders of her and now your father...always.
All my love,
Bethany
