Steven Oas Obituary
Irondequoit: January 13, 2016 at age 35. Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Eileen, and dog, Peggy; parents Steven C and Lois (Forrester) Oas; sister Carly (Chris) O'Connell; brother Trevor (Allison) Oas; nephews Ethan Groh and Logan Oas; nieces Paige Groh and Reagan Boss; father-in-law and mother-in-law Ross and Therese Dayton; brother-in-law Ross (Sarah) Dayton; sisters-in-law Katherine (Timothy) Boss and Lauren (Kevin) Sharpe; aunts, uncles, cousins, and so many friends.
Steve was kind, smart, funny, giving, and endlessly talented. He was a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be dearly missed by the many people he touched.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 18 from 3 - 6 p.m. at New Comer Funeral Home, located at 6 Empire Blvd., Rochester, NY 14609 (http://www.newcomerrochester.com/).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oas Family. Checks can be made payable to Eileen Dayton and sent to New Comer Funeral Home.

I worked with Steve briefly a couple of years ago, but will remember him always for his humor, intelligence and kindness. I'm shocked to hear of his passing, and wish peace to his family and friends. A tremendous loss for all who knew him.

One of my first experiences meeting the Dayton family was a Halloween night. Steve had masterfully carved Mr. Dayton's face into a pumpkin and they were both working to hoist it up for display in the front tree for the whole neighborhood to admire. I remember making a mental note that evening, admiring how special these people were and how lucky I was to witness and participate in their love for each other and jovial celebration of life's simple joys. There's no doubt that Steve is continuing to spread his talents and magic on his continued journey and how lucky the angels and all of heaven will be to bear witness to it.

So broken-hearted to learn of Steve's passing. Steve was the very best neighbor, such a kind and gentle soul who made us feel immediately welcome on Orland Road. I had the privilege of working with Steve for the last 3 years. Steve was one of those guys that when you saw his name on the schedule, you knew it was going to be a good day with him around. Possibly the only person that could talk about bird carving and keep me even the slightest bit interested :) You will be terribly missed friend.
