Thomas O'Brien Obituary
Webster: A lifetime resident of Forest Lawn, Tom passed away at home on Friday, December 12, 2014, at the age of 91. He is survived by his three children, Nancy Gregg O'Brien, Kimberly Comstock (Stephen) and Byrne O'Brien (Karen); four grandchildren.
Born in Rochester, NY, he was the youngest of five brothers. Tom served in the Army and fought at the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. He studied at Duke, Syracuse, U of R and Columbia before starting his 43 year career at RIT as a faculty member in the English department and served as chairman of the department for nearly a decade. He was a mentor to many and hosted frequent late night soirees on his deck overlooking Lake Ontario. Among his many interests, Tom was a teller of stories, lover of the sea and sailing, animals, travel, his boat the Tigress and "good company."
A Memorial Service will be announced. Contributions in his memory may be made to The Humane Society at Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Road, Fairport, NY 14450. To share a memory of Thomas or send a condolence to the family visit www.anthonychapels.com.
