Thomas Spaker Obituary

Spaker, Thomas J.

Irondequoit: Passed suddenly on January 14, 2015 at the age of 67. Preceded in death by his parents, Francis & Mary. Tom is survived by his wife Margaret, son Peter & wife Danielle, daughter Anne Machi & husband Matthew, grandchildren Thomas & Charles Spaker, sister Joanie Hasselwander & husband Alan, and the mother of his children, Jeanne Spaker.

Tom graduated from John Carroll University in 1967 with a degree in Psychology. He was a veteran of the US Army and served as an officer from 1970-1972. Tom (or "Little T," as his cousins nicknamed him) was known for his loud laughter, great sense of humor and hilarious impressions of the Godfather and Jack Nicholson. He had many hobbies, including marksmanship, fishing, and blackjack. Tom had a love for music; he enjoyed playing piano and guitar and loved The Allman Brothers Band. He also liked Italian food, gadgets, sharpening knives, and biplanes. Tom will be remembered as the kind of man who bought a plow for his Jeep just so he could clear out his friends' and families' driveways. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend.

His family will receive friends Thursday 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South). Friends are invited to meet the family Friday 10:00am at Peace of Christ Parish at St. John the Evangelist Church for his funeral mass. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. I MET TOM IN THIRD GRADE AT ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST SCHOOL WHEN I TRANSFERRED FROM CORPUS CHRISTI. WE LIVED ON THE SAME STREET AND BECAME BEST FRIENDS. DID A LOT OF CRAZY THINGS AS KIDS AND HAD A LOT OF FUN.

HE WAS THE BEST MAN AT MY WEDDING, AND WAS A VERY SPECIAL, INTELLIGENT PERSON.

I STILL MISS TOM AND WISH I COULD TALK TO HIM “ONE MORE TIME”!

I just found out about Tom's passing. I only wish I had heard sooner, so that I might have paid my respects personally at his services. Like my brother below, I grew up with Tom on Amsterdam Road. We spent a lot of time together throughout the years, from our youth through adulthood, and I am left with a collection of wonderful memories.

Tom was a good man and he will be dearly missed.

I send my sincere condolences to Tom's family. He is very much in my thoughts.

JUDY AND I JUST HEARD OF TOMS PASSING. TOM AND I GREW UP TOGETHER ON AMSDERDAM ROAD, HE WAS ONE OF MY BEST AND CLOSEST FRIENDS. THERE ARE SO MANY STORIES I COULD RELATE I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START.

AL COSTICH AND I WERE TALKING ABOUT CONTACTING TOM TO SEE HOW THINGS WERE GOING WITH HIM AND I HOPED THE THREE OF US COULD GET TOGETHER. SOMEWHERE IN THIS HOPE IS A REVELATION.

TOM AND HIS EXTENDED FAMILY WILL BE IN OUR PRAYERS.

I AM GREATLY EFFECTED BY HIS LOSS.
