William VanBortel Obituary
Palmyra: 88, died on Mon., Nov. 30, 2009. William was born on Feb. 2, 1921 in Marion, NY to Jacob and Cornelia Vanderlinde VanBortel. He was a member of the Macedon Center United Methodist Church and was known locally as the kind gentleman who lived on Macedon Center Road and always had a wave for everyone.
Mr. VanBortel is survived by his sister Lavina Freeland; brother-in-law Ralph (Janice Young) Collier; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Florence Collier and brother Hudson VanBortel.
Friends may call from 11-1 on Thurs., Dec. 3 at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., 123 W. Main St., Palmyra. A funeral service will follow calling at 1pm. Burial will be in Macedon Center Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Palmyra Fire Co. Oxygen Squad, 615 E. Main St., Palmyra, NY 14522 or to the Macedon Village Ambulance, 1 Canal Pk., Macedon, NY 14502. Online condolences @ www.rlyostfuneralhome.com

I must have exchanged hundreds of waves over the years and yet never knew the man. I was always going to stop and visit but never found the time. Life moves too fast. We need to stop and smell the roses I feel like I lost a friend yet we never met.
