Debra Johnson Obituary
Our beloved, Debra Ann Johnson went to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, December 7, 2023. She was born at Flow Memorial Hospital in Denton, Texas on March 2, 1961 to Robert N. and Georgia Ruth Johnson. Debra graduated from Denton High School in 1979. She went on to study and graduate from North Texas State University (currently UNT) with a BA in Business in 1983. Debra had a very successful career in sales, working at IBM for 10 years, then Hewlett Packard for 7, later with Shionogi Pharmaceuticals and ending with Corelogic.
Debra's greatest joy was spending time with her much loved family and friends, which she did every chance she got. She had a close family and extended family and relished her fun times with many aunts, uncles and cousins. She loved traveling and was fortunate to go to many of the United States including Alaska; also traveling to Russia, Japan, the Caribbean Islands, Mexico, and more. Debra loved to read and cook, but was also very active. She enjoyed snow skiing and playing coed baseball on an IBM team (even sliding into home base if necessary). She also loved scuba diving and other water sports, golfing, hiking, fishing, and sail boating over the years. She spent many fun weekends staying at her friend's lake home and enjoying boating, cooking, and visiting with friends at Lake Bridgeport.
Debra was an active member at Irving Bible Church and loved the Lord with all her heart. She was very personable and easy to talk to, so she made many friends there. These friendships turned into deep bonds. They traveled together, had parties, and frequent meals together, creating many great memories over the years. These friends were amazing support to Debra and her family throughout her Cancer journey with surgery, hospital stays and home recovery times. Debra also had many lifelong friends from her childhood, school age years, and college years in Denton. She always said her greatest blessing was to be surrounded by so many wonderful friends.
Debra was preceded in death by her much loved father, Robert N. Johnson and her adored nephew, Brent Alexander Melville.
A visitation will be held at DeBerry Funeral Home from 5PM to 7PM on Monday, December 11, 2023. Funeral services will begin at 11AM Tuesday, December 12, 2023, also at DeBerry's. Debra will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park following the service.
Debra is survived by her mother Georgia Ruth Johnson, her sister Sharon Lynn Melville Wright (Hank), niece Morgan Braddy Melville, and numerous aunts and cousins.
