Dorothy Martin Obituary
Dorothy Jean Martin passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021, in Denton, Texas. She was born in Krum, Texas to I.T. and Mary K. Martin on August 10, 1933.
Dorothy grew up in Denton, TX and graduated from Denton High School. Dorothy worked various places as a bookkeeper, including General Motors Parts Division and Harpool Seed Company. She also worked with Child Welfare and the Food Commodity Program. Dorothy retired in 1996 from Texas Parks and Wildlife. She had opened and managed the Isle De Bois State Park office at Lake Ray Roberts. Dorothy also was involved in coordinating the Denton County Bi-Centennial Celebration in 1976. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, playing bridge, and playing SKIPBO.
She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Dr. Sandra Jo McCormick Yates and her sister Greta Lowrie.
A memorial service will be held Saturday November 20, 2021, 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church in Denton, TX.
Dorothy is survived by her son Jim Welborn and wife Linn of Denton, daughter Karen Welborn Banks of Denton, son Jeff Welborn and wife Val of Krum, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Spring Creek Cemetery Foundation, 624 W. University Dr. #315, Denton, TX 76201.

My sweet Aunt Dorothy will surely be missed. Even when she was hurting emotionally or physically she wore a smile and would make you feel important and loved.
