Gregory Epley Obituary
Gregory Dean Epley, Jr., 42, of Denton, Texas, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Medical City Plano.
Greg was born on March 6, 1975 in Louisville, Kentucky to Gregory Dean and Martha Ann (Haynes) Epley. He graduated from Oldham County High School, Buckner, KY in 1993. He earned his bachelor's degree from Eastern Kentucky University in Police Studies in 1999. He worked for the Dallas Police Department for 17 years until he medically retired on July 13, 2017.
Greg joined the force on July 7, 2000 and graduated with honors in Academy Class 266 on February 16, 2001. His awards include three Certificates of Merit, a Marksmanship Award, and a 10-year Safe Driving Award. He obtained the highest score on the Senior Corporal test during his cycle.
He is survived by his children, Julia Gwendolyn Epley, Katelyn Olivia Epley, Kensey Madaline Epley and Gregory Dean Epley, III, all of Rockwall, TX; mother, Martha Haynes Anderson and her husband Virgil of Denton; father, Gregory Dean Epley, Sr. and his wife Barbara of Louisville, KY; sister, Jennifer Ardella Brinson, and her husband Tarus, and daughter, Michaela Nicole, all of Little Elm, TX; stepsister, Karie Epley Stoker of Texas.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, January 12, 2018 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 13, 2018 in the Denton Bible Church Chapel, 2300 E. University Dr., Denton, TX. An additional viewing will be held at 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Monday, January 15, 2018 at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, 3098 Louisville Road, Bowling Green, KY. A graveside service and interment will follow immediately at the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Bowling Green, KY.
