Jeanice Faye Russell Young, 86, 0f Lewisville, Texas, was born February 14, 1935 to Charlie and Sudie Russell in Denton, Texas. Her family were original members of the Waketon Community in Flower Mound, Texas. She grew up with her twin sister, Janis Russell Whatley. Jeanice married William â€œBillâ€� Jay Young on October 6, 1956.
Jeanice is survived by three children, Barry Young and wife, Candace, Kara Young Stone and Kevin Young and wife, Karen. Also survived by many grandchildren, Kristi Sutton and husband, Casey, Lauren Smith Myers and husband Tanner, Jennifer Yates and husband, Anthony, Justin Smith and wife, Jessie, Collin Young, Nolan Stone and wife, Alexis and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Omert, Hailey Omert, Greyson Myers and Everett Yates.
Jeanice has been a long, loyal and loving resident of Lewisville. She grew up in the Waketon Community before moving into town in the 1950's. Jeanice attended school in the original Lewisville Grammar School. She is a 1953 graduate of Lewisville High School. She was active in many LHS organizations: FHA, Spanish Club, Student Council, Pep Squad for 4 years, Majorette, Harvest Staff, Basketball Manager, Volleyball Manager, Valentine Queen 1952 and Most Beautiful in 1953. Jeanice attended North Texas State University 1953-1956.
In the beginning of her career, Jeanice worked for John Deere Company in Dallas and as a legal secretary for Sam Houston, an attorney in Lewisville. In 1977, Jeanice joined Lewisville ISD where she retired as secretary for College Street Elementary. She was named Lewisville ISD Secretary of the Year in 1989. She participated in the PTA for College Street, Delay, Milliken and Lewisville High School and was awarded a PTA Life membership in 1978. She was an active member of the Lewisville High School Football Booster. Jeanice has been a member of the First United Methodist church in Lewisville for over 50 years. She served as Sunday School teacher in the 70's and was active in the Dorcas and 50 + group. Jeanice also served on the Chinn's Chapel Cemetery Board.
Jeanice enjoyed china painting, gardening and Farmer Football. She was a great resource to many with providing stories and history from Lewisville, Bethel, Chinn's Chapel and Waketon Communities
Jeanice was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by many.
â€¢ An open visitation will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 740 S. Edmonds Lane, Lewisville, Texas 75067.
â€¢The service will be held at 10:00 am Central Standard time on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church of Lewisville, 907 W. Main St., Lewisville, Texas 75067. A graveside service will follow immediately at Chinn's Chapel Cemetery, Chinn Chapel Road, Copper Canyon, Texas
