Holly was the youngest daughter of Minoru and True Yasui. She dedicated many years to preserving her father's legacy of civil rights activism, commemorating Min's actions regarding his challenge to curfew of Japanese American citizens during WW II. She worked tirelessly to obtain a posthumous Medal of Freedom for him. Holly also formed the Minoru Yasui Legacy Project to defend civil rights and advance social justice. She worked with various educational and community projects in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where she made her home for over 20 years.
Holly succumbed to complications from COVID-19 on October 31, 2021. She is survived by her partner, Gerardo Armenta Ojeda, her sisters Iris and Laurie, and many friends and relatives. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Minoru Yasui Legacy Project in her name at https://www.minoruyasuilegacy.org/
with the notation "In honor of Holly Yasui."
