Anthony Pisani Obituary

Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, and Devoted Family Man Anthony J. Pisani, successful Denver entrepreneur, philanthropist, and devoted family man died Tuesday at the age of 62. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughters, Gail Close, Julie Hogan, and Laura Pisani; granddaughters Brittany, Courtney, and Audrey; brother, Alfred; sister, Elizabeth Ann; and his mother, Angela. Born in New Rochelle, New York to Alfred and Angela Pisani, Tony graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School and received his bachelor's degree and MBA from Pace University in White Plains, New York. From 1966 to 1967, Tony proudly served his country in Vietnam. He was assigned to special troops, USARV, and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for exceptionally meritorious service. When his exemplary military service ended, an even more distinguished business career began. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, Tony returned to New York where he worked for PepsiCo and ITT. ITT's Aetna division brought Tony to Denver, which proved to be a seminal moment in his life. Although he was on the corporate fast track, Tony was an entrepreneur at heart. In 1979, he left ITT to purchase a small security guard firm, American Patrol & Guard. Thanks to his brilliant financial mind and indomitable spirit, he transformed APG from a tiny family operation into a multi-state giant in the corporate security industry. In 2000 APG was acquired by Securitas, an international security firm, but Tony never contemplated retirement. To Tony, work was play; so he continued his entrepreneurial endeavors with the same passion and excitement. Even more than his business ventures, Tony's family, friends, and employees were the true focus of his life. He was a man of great compassion and unrivaled loyalty. But perhaps the true measure of the man was not so much the kindness he showed to family and friends, rather the kindness he showed to complete strangers. Through his quiet but substantial philanthropic efforts, Tony was a champion of the poor, the vulnerable, and the forgotten. Services will be held at Most Precious Blood Roman Catholic Church, located at 2200 S Colorado Blvd in Denver. On Monday, November 12th, there will be a Rosary at 6 pm with a viewing one half hour prior. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 13th at 11:00 am with a viewing one hour prior. Private interment with military honors will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Tony's name to: Porter Hospice Foundation, 7995 E Prentice Ave Suite 204, Greenwood Village, CO 80111.

Blessings to the Pisani family at this time of Tony's passing. I will remember the kindness and passion Tony brought into the work he so clearly mastered. His compassion for his employees and drive to make his company (APG) a good employment situation. I will also remember the gentle way he handled difficult situations. Wow, I guess I learned a lot from Tony Pisani. You will be missed Tony, and thanks for being a friend.

Tony was one of the greatest, kindest people I ever had the good fortune to meet. He hired me as a kid just out of high school, and led me into management at APG, which has helped me tremendously in life. I know most at APG shared these feelings, especially early on when Tony was a familiar face to every single one of us. I know, that even as his company grew to thousands of employees in several states, he still wanted to know everybody. I've heard such wonderful stories about how Tony cared deeply for his employees, and I know they're true because I was one of them. I'll definitely miss him. Patricia, Gail, Julie, Laura, Fred - my prayers and sympathies are with you.

I first met Tony when him and my dad (Chuck Marshall) worked together at ITT Denver and again at APG Security. Over the years Tony was a great friend not only to my parents but to our entire family. Tony was genuine, sincere and generous. He will be missed by our family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Pisani family in your time of sorrow. May God Bless you all.

Tony and Patti welcomed a couple of dozen teenagers into their home many a Sunday morning after Mass to share a meal and enjoy time together. Their hospitality always touched our hearts deeply, and we are very saddened by Tony's passing. Your whole family is in our thoughts and prayers.

I am a friend of Tony's daughter, Gail Close, and although I had never met Tony I know what a wonderful person he must have been to have raised such an incredibly giving, caring daughter.
