Augustine Cristiani Obituary

CRISTIANI, AUGUSTINE (GUS) B. Colonel USAF Retired, 82 Colonel Gus was born in Italy. He came to this country at a young age and grew up in New York state. Col. Gus joined the U.S. Army Air Corp, as a B-17 Bomber pilot in WWII. He was a POW and a career Military officer in the USAF with duty in Denver as Director of the Air Force Accounting and Finance Center. Gus was assigned to various military assignments throughout the world and western U.S. Gus retired in 1979 as a Colonel in his beloved Colorado. The last two years of his life were spent at the Centura Senior Life Care Center where he received wonderful, kind and dignified care from the sixth floor staff. Preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Frances. Beloved father of John (Sallie), Steven (Vicki), Denise (Peter), Susan (Michael), Kathy (David), David (Kathleen). Also survived by eight grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and soon to be born, great-greatchild. Visitation, Tuesday, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Horan & McConaty Mortuary, 3201 S. Parker Rd. Funeral Mass, Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Aurora. Interment, Fort Logan National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to Hospice of Peace, 2420 W. 26th Ave., Ste 200, Denver, CO 80211 or Parkinson's Association of the Rockies, 1400 Ogden St., Ste 103, Denver, CO 80281.

Condolences to the family of Colonel Gus Cristiani, from a post-WWII baby boomer who appreciates the work and sacrifices of our military. May Our Lord now give him eternal rest in a place of lasting peace and freedom.
