Carol Haun Obituary

Carol Ann Haun of Highlands Ranch, Colorado died in the comfort of her home and in her family's presence on May 10, 2011 after her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Carol worked for over 30 years in the metro Denver health care systems beginning as a nurse in the ER at Denver General. Most recently, Carol served as Vice President of Human Resources at North Suburban Medical Center. She was known for her eternally optimistic attitude as well as for befriending everyone she worked with, from volunteers to physicians. Carol will be missed by countless friends and coworkers from both the HCA and Centura medical systems. The annual Carol Haun Employee Recognition Award has been established in her honor at Sky Ridge Medical Center as a tribute to Carol for her spirit, passion, and energy which inspired everyone to be their best. These individuals will be selected and recognized for demonstrating compassion and caring, following Carol's example. Carol's premier devotion was to her son, Benjamin Archambeau, who will be moving to Chicago in August to start medical school. To explore Carol's love of Asian culture, Carol and her son traveled together to Japan, Thailand, China, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea and Vietnam. Carol truly loved life. She taught everyone she knew to live in the present and without regret. Her way of life was to always put others before herself, even throughout her illness. She loved and was loved by many. Her love of animals extended her family to include a lively chihuahua and a more sedate dachshund. At Carol's request, no formal services will be held. Rather, it was Carol's wish that her many friends and coworkers celebrate her life and their own lives with other friends and with their families. Carol was born on December 4th 1953 in Yankton South Dakota. In addition to her son, Ben, and her dogs she is survived by her parents, Ruth and Frank Haun, her sisters Joyce and Jan and brothers Brian and Brent. I met Carol first at P/Sl many years ago and got reconnected with her at St. Anthony Cenral Hospital, and then reconnected at HealthONE a few years ago. What a truly lovely and wonderful woman Carol was and she brought sunshine to wherever and whatever she touched. She will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers to her family, and to Ben as he embarks on his new journey in Chicago.

Not many will remember that Carol took a major risk in becoming the HR Director for the Precedent Medical Center in Denver in 2000. She recruited 200 new staff in a few months to start this center. Her enthusiasm and dedication was evident wherever she worked and whatever she did . And what a great and fun friend and colleague!
Carol, you will be missed.
