When I first met Officer Chris Grosz over two years ago, I realized that his reputation of being a gentle giant fit him perfectly. However, his skills in the martial arts helped to make him a highly effective member of the Littleton Police Department. Chris demonstrated his dedication to the warrior arts by traveling to many faraway places including Russia for training. He had the heart and the soul of a warrior but the warrior was also a scholar and teacher.
Chris shared his knowledge by teaching at Arapahoe Community College and Red Rocks Community College. He spent a lot of time studying weapons especially edged weapons. One of his greatest scholarly accomplishments was his research on Fairbairn's Timetable of Death. He hoped that his research would benefit those in law enforcement and military.
Chris was very generous and always helped out. One time I met him in Seattle and arranged for him to ride with me to a training camp. He paid for the gas and still insisted on buying my dinner. He was also quick at complimenting others instead of focusing on himself. A fellow training partner said, "Chris wore his heart on his sleeve, and his heart was bigger than he was."
Life is ironic as well as short. The night before Chris passed away, I showed my class some of the techniques that Chris shared with me. I actually thought about calling him the weekend before he passed away as I was planning to attend a seminar he was organizing. Oh man, life is too damn short. In the short time I got to know him, I got to know one important thing and that is Chris Grosz is a great guy. On my next class, I did my best to tell me students about what a great man that he was.
I offer my deepest condolences to the family, friends, fellow officers and training partners of Chris Grosz. He will be sorely missed...

Chris,
You taught me so much in such a short time. You taught me how to protect myself, you taught me how to laugh and enjoy life, and you taught me a lot about caring for my fellow officers. I never once walked past you without you asking me how things were going or if I needed some help. I remember when you forgot my name during training and called me "Jake"; you continued to call me Jake until the last day we spoke...just for a laugh. I will never forget your calming and friendly demeanor. I respected the fact that you weren't afraid to show your faith, as you once told me that "only one person in this world is perfect and his initials are J.C." when I wasn't satisfied with a case. You will be missed.

To all who knew Chris and who's lives he touched, we are all better for having known him and having had the honor of being called his friends. As we gather in the next 24 hours to honor his memory, and to pray for his family, and perhaps to seek answers from God, it is a comfort to know that Chris did have faith in God, and that he is there face to face with him. I pray that the peace that surpases all understanding will be poured out for all of you, his family and friends. God bless you all, and, Chris, see ya soon.

Echoing my husbands sentiments...You're an awesome friend. You will also forever hold a special place in my heart. Thank for teaching me some of the finer points to life, for being my friend and for being there whenever I needed a long talk. Standing the the hallway telling me "In time, this too shall pass." The sadness will, the memories, never. BBQ and Jimmy Buffett will never be the same!
Love and hugs, Shannon Edson

Chris,
This is not an easy thing to do, nor will be going to your funeral. You touched so many people, both soft and Hard. :-0
You are a Great Friend, Father, and Police Officer. From enjoying a Coniac on the beach in San Diego, IPMBA and DT, to cruising down the road in the CP talking about life, liberty and the pursuit of great BBQ, it was my pleasure Brother! We had so many good times and good talks over the years. You truely were an Angel from Heaven brought here to help others, and that you did. You will always have a special place in my heart!
Dont step on any pop-tops and pour me a cold one when I see you again!
Your Brother in Blue~
