David Hughes Obituary

Hughes, David
January 13, 1955 - May 4, 2021

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, David Jon Hughes passed away on May 4, 2021 at the age of 66. After a February 2021 diagnosis, Dave bravely fought a rare form of metastatic chondrosarcoma. He died as bravely as he fought, dignified and surrounded by his close family.
Dave was born on January 13, 1955 in Kokomo, Indiana. He attended Haworth High School and then Purdue University, where he met his future wife, Julie, and was pledge class president of his fraternity, Sigma Chi. Dave earned his Bachelors and Masters of Science in Engineering from Purdue. He had a distinguished career evolving from aerospace engineering at Martin Marietta to software sales. Dave retired in 2018 after 40+ years.
Dave and Julie were married in 1980 and moved to Conifer before settling in Highlands Ranch for 25 years. Dave and Julie recently moved to a new home in Parker where, in retirement, they helped watch their grandkids and entertained. Dave enjoyed cooking, traveling, Purdue sports, and the outdoors. Dave loved his daughters, Jessamyn (33) and Hayley (28), and was the best "girl dad." Though Dave often traveled for work, he was a devoted father who always prioritized his children and their activities. Dave's grandkids, Carson (4) and Sloane (19 mo.), were the greatest joy of his later years. His legacy will live on in his grandkids and they miss their Papa very much.
Dave is survived by his wife Julie, daughters Jessamyn and Hayley, sons-in-law Craig Miller and Nic Morabito, grandchildren Carson and Sloane, brother Joe, niece Kati, and nephew Michael. Dave was preceded in death by his father and mother Frank and Bette Hughes. Celebration of life services are being planned.

David, you will be so missed. We only got to work together for 3 years but we became friends immediately. You were an amazing rep for FA&D and you touched numerous lives. Rest peacefully until we all meet again.
