David VanderMeer Obituary

David "Davo" Douglas VanderMeer, born July 23, 1974, in Royal Oak, Michigan, passed away May 26, 2011 in Denver, Colorado. Davo was a kind soul who loved his family, friends, and, most especially, his wife, Kelly, and son, Willem. His disdain for formal footwear, regardless of temperature or locale, was legendary. Davo is a graduate of Indiana University. He touched a great many people with his humor, warmth, and intelligence. To be loved by Davo was to truly be loved. He is survived by his wife, Kelly (Studt) VanderMeer, son, Willem; parents, John and Jeanne VanderMeer; brother, Gerritt; sister, Gage; sister-in-law Carolann, and nephew, Cooper. A celebration of Davo's life was held at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made payable to VANGUARD FBO THE WILLEM KENNETH VANDERMEER TRUST c/o John D. Vandermeer, 7981 Oakhaven Place, Indianapolis, IN 46256.

Dave, you put the "hound" in Greyhound by adding so much to our class in those three very formative years- your sense of humor and kindness are etched in my heart. You left an indelible mark on my high school memories.
