O'RYAN, DOROTHY O'DONNELL Dorothy O'Ryan died on March 20, 2011. She was born in Denver in 1923, the daughter of Canton O'Donnell, and Dorothy Bryant O'Donnell, and attended Denver Public Schools, graduating from East High School. She married John J. O'Ryan in 1943. He departed the marriage in 1971. As a result, Dorothy went to work, achieved success as a tax accountant at Arthur Young and Company, and, after retirement from there, operated independently for several years. Over time, Dorothy cared for many clients with compassion and loyalty. One acquaintance described Dorothy as "always caring more for others than for herself." She is survived by a sister, Mary Ann Griffin (Mrs. Lynn W.), a brother Canton O'Donnell, Jr., and his wife Ann, sister-in-law Jean O'Donnell and many nieces, nephews, and devoted friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Bryant O'Donnell. For many years, Dorothy maintained the financial affairs, and records, of the Grand Lake Yacht Club. She was the source of history and information for Club officers for decades, and authored a book about the Club "Sailing Above The Clouds." She was a member of Monday Forum, Ticker Tape Investment Club, and a foreign affairs group. In earlier years, Dorothy was active in the Junior League, American Red Cross, and International Institute of Education. Services will be at Christ Episcopal Church, 2950 So. University Blvd., at 11:00 AM Friday, March 25. A second memorial and burial will be at Grand Lake, Colorado, at a summer date. Contributions in Dorothy's memory are suggested to Hospice of St. John, Denver Dumb Friends League, or Grand Lake Area Historical Society, PO Box 656, Grand Lake, CO 80447.

Dorothy was my mother Lila Wead Berman's, cousin. My mother died April 20, 2011. I wanted to let Dorothy know. Would love to hear from other family members. Maria McLeish (grandaughter of Minnie Lou Bryant.)

I'm sorry to see Dorothy go. She was a great and elegant lady. I knew her from Arthur Young and Grand Lake.

I knew Dorothy while working at Arthur Young. She was one of the nicest and most genuine people you will ever meet. I will always remember her for compassion for both people and animals. She will be missed.
