Dear Mrs. Matteson:
?My father in-law, Pastor Bernie Frey, introduced me to this wonderful man when I was a very young pastor in my early 20's. He had a great sense of humor, yet when you were with him, you knew that you were in the presence of royalty. ?He has had a great influence on my ministry.
Our fondest memories of Doc is when he would play the piano and sing “Oh Say But I’m Glad,” then change the words to “O Say But I’m Mad.” My three boys Chad, Cory and Casey love his puppet Bronco. But my all time favorite of all the stories that he told, was the story of left-overs. I believe it happened on Friday night and you were planing to feed your family leftovers, from meals served on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. Well, when all the family
were seated at the table and it was time to pray, he said; “I already prayed for this food and I am not going to pray for it again.” The family had a big laughed and went out to eat at a restaurant.
I want to send you our families heart felt sympathy to you and your family at this very special time in your lives. May God bless you and keep you until Jesus comes.
Sincerely,
Dr. S.C. & Marcia Schearer

Mrs. Matteson and family,
Our sympathies and prayers are with you all at this time. We, especially Dorathy, have fond memories of Earle's ministry and of his love and 'excitement' for the gospel at Fourth Baptist, etc. Another giant of the faith.
Love to all,
Dan and Dorathy (Robey) Larson

Dr. Matteson was my pastor and my professor. I have often considered his personal legacy to me. He enriched my life, as he has thousands of others. We will miss him, but we look forward to that eternal reunion with our Lord and Savior. We anticipate the snatching away of God's church when we will be caught up together to be with the Lord.See you then, Dr. Matteson.
