McBRIDE, SISTER EDWIN MARY SL
Sister Edwin Mary, born Genevieve McBride in Las Cruces, NM in 1910, died at Loretto Motherhouse in Nerinx, KY on October 14, 2005. Sister taught English and chaired the Department at Loretto Heights College for 23 years. She began the Women's Studies program at the Heights, taught in England and in Australia in the 70's. At the age of 72, she moved to New York, representing Loretto and other religious women's orders at the United Nations. During 14 years in New York, Sister also served as Justice & Peace Coordinator for the east coast.
She is survived by nieces Genny Amato and Lucy Arnold and their families, as well as other family around the country. The Loretto Community joins them in celebrating the life of this faithful, outspoken, and compassionate woman.
Always a teacher, she donated her body to science.
All are invited to a memorial to be held at Loretto Center, 4000 S. Wadsworth Blvd., on Wednesday, November 9th, at 7 p.m. A wake/reception will follow.
