Harold Anderson Obituary

Anderson, Harold
Sept. 9, 1942 - May 24, 2021

Harold Anderson was born on September 9, 1942 in Hereford, TX to Carlos and Lottie (Allred) Anderson. He was the oldest of two children, his little sister, Camelia preceded him in death. He graduated from Hereford High School in 1962 and attended college at the University of North Texas in Denton where he graduated in 1967 with a business degree. In 1963, he married Ada Bettis Anderson while they were still college students. At the time of his death, they had been married nearly 58 years. They have one child and her husband, Holly and Dennis Sanguedolce who live in Carrollton, Texas.
After graduation, he worked for General Tire in El Paso, TX before joining Wallace Laboratories as a sales representative. Eventually they were moved to Denver with a promotion to district and then regional manager positions. The couple lived in what is now Centennial for 18 years during which time, he started his own medical supply company. Ada joined him in 1990. They moved to what is now Lone Tree in 1994 where they remain today. They sold their company some years ago and have enjoyed retirement.
Harold was an integral part of the founding generation of the City of Lone Tree. He helped the campaign to incorporate the City in 1995, served for many years on the City's Arts Commission in the early 2000's, and then for eight distinguished years on the Lone Tree City Council from 2008-2015.
As a tireless advocate for the Arts, Harold was instrumental in the commissioning and placement of many of the unique pieces of public art that contribute so beautifully to the character of Lone Tree. In 2008 he was one of a small group of arts advocates that led the successful campaign that funded the construction of the Lone Tree Arts Center. He and his wife, Ada, continued their support thereafter and rank among the most generous benefactors to the arts in Lone Tree.
