January 16, 2005

I never knew Captain Forbes personally but in doing some research on a childhood neighbor of mine, Commander Helmuth Hoerner, I made contact with him through the Battle of Midway Round Table. He was so very gracious in answering my e-mail message with both comments and pictures that I felt I had known him for years.

I'm so sorry for your loss but I know that you must feel great pride in all that he accomplished.

Sincerely,

Jim Garnsey
