John J. Truhlar

TRUHLAR, JOHN J. Accountant and Comptroller. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 10, 2006, for John J. Truhlar, at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 8545 E. Dry Creek Road, Centennial. John, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at Littleton Adventist Hospital on April 6, 2006. John was a resident of The Johnson Center, Christian Living Communities, in Centennial, and previously had lived in Littleton, Montbello, Arvada, all in Colorado, and in Berwyn and Chicago, Illinois. Born in Chicago on August 8, 1918, John was married to Lucille Vancura on June 17, 1939, at Our Lady of the Mount Church in Cicero, Illinois. They were married for 63 years, until Lucille died on December 28, 2002. John was known for his sense of humor and storytelling. Prior to moving to Colorado in 1970, John was a comptroller and accountant for Columbia Envelope Company in Chicago. He worked a variety of jobs in Colorado. Upon his retirement, he served as a volunteer tax preparer for elderly indigent people for many years. One of his favorite activities during his retirement was to travel to downtown Denver and watch trials in the state and federal courts. John's motto for living his life was "I shall pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, than I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being let me do it now. Let me not defer it or neglet it for I shall not pass this way again." (Author unknown) In addition to his wife, John was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters and his parents. His survivors include his brother, Frank, of St. Louis, Missouri; three sons, Robert of Centennial, Donald of Minneapolis, and John F. of Boulder; three daughters-in-law, Doris Truhlar, Jane Truhlar, and Betty Hoye; grandchildren, Sara Truhlar, Stephanie Marie Eaton Truhlar, Ivy Truhlar, Holly Truhlar, Paul Truhlar, John Martin Truhlar, and Samara Williams.
