I just heard the tragic news last night and was shocked and sick at heart. I did not know him but he sounds like someone I would really like, he had a real zest for life and I am sure lived each day to the fullest. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. My condolences to the famil of Joe Miller. As a fellow New Yorker from Albany, and now residing in Denver, I never knew Joe, but I can see from his life story that I certainly would have liked to have know him. It is a great loss for all.

Dear Joe, Madeline, Maryanne and Chris --
I was so shocked to hear from my brother and mom and dad about Joe. I only remember him in person as a boy, but of course have kept track through the years as our families intertwined in marriage and friendship with John and Dave, and when Meg worked for Joey. He clearly grew into an extraordinary human being, and the world and those he touched were better for having known him. Mostly, I grieve your loss as parents, and mourn the life of his widow and children in having to go on without him in their daily lives. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers in this most profoundly difficult time.

I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Joe personally, but I wanted to send heartfelt condolensces to your family. The loss of a husband and father is tragic in ANY situation, and even more so when the man was clearly soa passionate, adventurous and supportive of his family and community.
I'm sure the time you had together on the road is even more cherished now that there won't be more opportunities. I know words may not be helpful, but I hope it is of some comfort that this story has helped me to be even more sure to make our road trip happen sooner rather than later. Blessings, Jen Silver

I can't tell you how badly I feel for all of you with the loss of Joe. I never met Joe or Lara, I think they may be a couple of the only people from your wonderful immediate families I haven't met. But after talking with you and listening to your great stories about them and watching his videos, I feel like I really did know them, and his passing sincerely saddened me. My days with Joe go back to Koda Jr High, and all the way through our years at Siena. While it has been many years since we have seen or spoken, I am truly heartbroken. Joe left me with many great memories, which now don't seem so far away. My deepest sympathies to his entire family.

Chris, I know how much you loved your brother, one time I heard you talking with him on the phone with a lot of love in your voice and even sent him a kiss over the phone..that was love!! Now he is with God with love around him like when he was here on earth. God bless his family!!

Joe was a wonderful man & the perfect match for my niece Lara. Joe gave Lara 3 beautiful children. He gave love freely to those lives he touched. And he has left an irreplaceable love in our lives & hearts. He was 1 of the most generous & intelligent men I've ever known. I will never forget Joe or his laughter or his smile or his childlike adventurous nature or his love of life, I could go on & on.
