BOTKIN, JOYCE O.
Joyce Ottke Botkin died on Sunday, July 17, 2005 at the age of 78. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA where she raised her children before moving to Boca Raton, FL and more recently, to Denver. Joyce began her career as a fashion model in the 1940's when she was one of Pittsburgh's top runway and print models. She married Dr. Robert Filcer Botkin, Chief of Orthopedics at Allegheny General Hospital, in 1950. Joyce was a charter member of the Steel Cities Region of the Sports Car Club of America and took top awards in the women's division at Watkins Glen, NY, and Sebring, FL, and other eastern seaboard track and rally races. Her primary lifelong passion was golf, a passion she passed on to her
children and grandchildren.
Joyce is dearly missed by her children
Leslie, Jeffrey, and Lisa, niece Jan, and by her grandchildren Kevin, Ben, and Connor. We love you Mom, you will live in our hearts forever. You gave us your soul, your zest, your philosophy, your life and your laughter. A celebration of Joyce's life will take place in Pittsburgh,
PA, at a later date. Memorials may be made in Joyce's name to the American Heart Association, 1280 S. Parker Rd., Denver, CO 80231.

My condolences to Leslie and her siblings on the passing of their mother. I remember meeting her once when I and other students were at their house to practice some routine for a gym class and also a swimming party I believe Leslie held one year. I did not realize she was a woman of such diversified talents until reading of her passing.
