Lee Tautz Obituary

Tautz, Lee Roy
April 6, 1928 - Dec 20, 2022

Lee R. Tautz, 94, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 20, 2022. He was born April 6, 1928 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to parents Herbert and Isolde Tautz, and was the middle child of five siblings. Surviving is his wife Ilse, they were happily married for 69 years and had five children- Kenny, Steve, Lesa, Gary, and Linda. Other generations surviving are his eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
As a young boy his family moved to Denver where he graduated from South High School, and later from CU Boulder in 1952 with an Architectural Engineering degree. He was the Founder and President of Caissons Inc., drilling foundations across the continental US and Hawaii. He was a long time philanthropist, and took pride in providing his expertise to improve his community. He enjoyed piloting his many planes across the skies with his family, friends, and co-workers. He was an avid lover of the outdoors, and fierce competitor in skiing, sailing, golf, gymnastics, tennis, etc. Not only was he a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, but a true inspiration to all that had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be incredibly missed, but in our hearts forever.
