Mary Rita Nygren

Mary Rita (Book) Nygren died August 12, 2006 after a brief illness. Rita was born May 18, 1924 of May Soran and Elmer Book Sr. and was the sister of Elmer Book Jr. She married her high school sweetheart, the late William E. Nygren, near the end of World War II, who she was married to for 54 years. She graduated from Annunciation Catholic School in Denver, Colorado. She served as secretary of St. James Catholic Church until retiring in 1998. Throughout her life, Rita was active in the St. James Altar and Rosary Society and P.T.A., the Daughters of Charity and St. Thomas Seminary Auxiliary. She is survived by her five children, James (Lee) of Mesa, AZ, Michael (Carol) of Santa Clarita, CA., David of San Francisco, CA., Nancy (Frank) Gustafson of Parker, CO., and Timothy (Ev) of Littleton, CO. She has nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Her funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, August 17th at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church located at 1314 Newport St. in Denver, with interment at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on Friday, August 18th at 9:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Porter Hospice.
