Neoma Mapelli

1921 - 2014

Neoma F. "Nomie" Mapelli, 93, of Greeley, passed away at Grace Pointe on August 5, 2014. She was born March 10, 1921 in Eagle Tail, New Mexico, to Ira and Esther (Steele) Robinson, a ranching family. She married Roland L. "Sonny" Mapelli on April 5, 1942 in Denver, CO. He passed away in 1995. Nomie graduated from West High School in Denver in 1938. Nomie was working at Hughes Drive-In as a carhop when she met Sonny, the love of her life. She worked as a switchboard operator for the original telephone company. She was an amazing homemaker/ "head cook and bottle washer." She always loved to entertain her family and friends with her gourmet cooking. Nomie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a strong supporter of Sonny's political career, a longtime supporter of the National Western Stock Show, enjoyed needlepoint sewing, card games, golfing, ranching and winters in Palm Springs. She loved a good game with her devoted "Gin Group". She is survived by her daughters, Terri (John) DeMoney and Jerri (Mark) Gustafson; grandchildren, Tyler and Kristie DeMoney, Lindsey and Sean Miller, Drew Gustafson, and Karly Gustafson; great-grandchildren, Asher De Money, Hayden, Blake, Emerson Miller, Wyatt Gustafson, and Grey DeMoney. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roland L. "Sonny" Mapelli; brother Stewart Robinson; sisters Margaret Wilbur, Saraetta Lewis, and Anetha Gibbs; and grandson, Travis DeMoney. Private services are to be held.
