Philip Welti Obituary

66, went to be with his Lord Saturday, November 2, 2013. He died peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his wife and son. He was born in Evanston, Illinois to the late Erwin and Elinor Welti and raised in Denver, Colorado. Following high school he spent three years with the Catholic Religious Order of Maryknoll Brothers. When he left the religious life he had the opportunity to work with the mentally ill and decided to make this his life's vocation. He became a psychiatric nurse and for the last 25 years of employment he worked at Tucker Pavilion. Known for his unique (some would say weird) sense of humor, he entertained all who came in contact with him. He was a devoted husband and father. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 38 years, Evelyn Overman Welti; son, Brian Welti; sister, Diane Snyder, her husband Joseph and their children, Colleen and Joseph. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation for the care given to Philip by Marie Gerardo, Nurse Practitioner with VCU House Calls and Horizons Hospice. A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 8200 Woodman Road, Richmond, VA, on November 9, 2013 at 2:30 PM.
