Dear Auntie and Cousins,
It has taken me over a year to write this. My sincerest condolences to each of you. I know this has been a very difficult year for you. I don't know if it ever gets easier, I'm sorry to say. Just more numbing.
My uncle has been on my mind for so long now. I'm sure it is due to the anniversary and his upcoming birthday. The loss is overwhelming and my heart just breaks when I see photos of him and the family. I remember his infectious smile and the storytelling, that the Valdez brother's were known for. If only we could have one more time with each of them. My list of questions for each would be daunting.
I love you uncle and miss you something terrible. I hope and know you are with you family in heaven catching up on old times and the fishing is never-ending.
Love, Valerie Valdez-Diaz

On Christmas morn, you filmed us like it was a movie under Hollywood direction;
You made us walk up and down the stairs, to sneak up on Santa, until you had perfection;
Then for vacation, you took us to places unknown;
Till we found out, it was a place in New Mexico, called Canjilon!
You took us to see wrestling, and roller derby instead of the zoo,
I didn't mind, as long as I was with you.
In the summer, you took us to Bear's stadium to watch the baseball game,
At least that's what we thought it was for;
Until we realized you just wanted us to know Capt. Kennedy's name.
You drove us to church and told us of the streets you would roam;
You told us of how Grandma would make you collect pallets to heat your home;
At the time, I thought to myself, Why do I care, Why is he telling me this?
I wish you were here to tell us just one more story;
Cause you and your voice, I already miss!

Roman was my neighbor for 14 years. I always enjoyed visiting with him over my back fence. He was always cheerful and never missed a chance stop and chat with me or honk and wave when he was driving his van. My thoughts are with his incredible family. Rest in peace Roman.Betsy Cook

Mr. Valdez was always a good and gentle man. A family man who always took care of his children and his yard. He and Mary were our neighbors and their kids were our friends. Roman, Susan and Pat - You are in our prayers and so many memories.
Your Daddy was awesome and so was your Mom. My parents enjoyed them and always had kind words for the whole family.
Sincere condolences to the entire Valdez Family and Friends.
