Barbara Lindberg Obituary

Barbara Lindberg 1918 ~ 2007 On June 11, 2007, after a brief illness and surrounded by family, Barbara Gudmundson Lindberg, 88, returned to her Heavenly Father. Barbara was born December 2, 1918 in Springville, Utah, the ninth of 10 children born to Moses Samuel Gudmundson and Erma Adella Crandall. After spending her youth in Springville and graduating from BYU, she moved to Huntington Park, California in 1942. Not long thereafter she met the love of her life, John Henry Lindberg, though supporting the war effort by corresponding with servicemen. They were married on July 3, 1946 in the Logan, Utah, LDS temple and moved to Bell, California, where they lived for the next 31 years. Following John's retirement in 1976, they returned to Springville. Barbara loved music and spent many years serving as an organist in church and at a local mortuary. Perhaps her most remarkable and enduring trait was the capacity to serve others. She was devoted to her husband, children and extended family, tirelessly serving them while setting an example to follow. When John became ill with congestive heart disease, she nursed him at home for several years until he passed away on August 3, 2005. Even though they were people of modest means, she and John opened their home many times to persons in difficult circumstances. Barbara was always willing to share her humble resources with others. She was a faithful and devoted member of the LDS Church and served in many callings throughout the years, including as a worker in the Provo temple. Barbara is survived by sons Neil (Denise), Carl (Chris) and Paul (Erline), a daughter, Anita (Jan), 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Another son, Craig, preceded her in death. Her funeral will be conducted on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah. A viewing will be held during the hour preceding the service.

Though much time has passed, I still reflect upon the wonderful years in the old Bell Ward where Barbara and the Lindberg's were a special part of our lives then. May the Lord bless and comfort your family during this time and may you know the peace the gospel brings, understanding that we can all be reunited again with friends and loved ones in the presence of our Heavenly Father. May the Lord bless you all!

Babara is now with her family and friends renewing that love she had with each of them. How comforting it is to have the gospel knowing there is not an end to life, that there is an eternity and one day we will all have that same joy to experience.

You are in our thoughts and prayers. I have fond memories of being in the Lindberg home during elder's quorum presedency meetings. I served under John when he was elder quorum president. I remember how supportive Barbara was and how friendly she was to me. Our prayers are with you, Lynn & Kathy North
