Bobbie Johnson Obituary

Bobbie Johnson

1937 - 2025

- Bobbie Wrigley Johnson - a grand lady, caring mother, grandmother, friend and astute businesswoman. She leaves behind loving family members and a truck load of amazing memories. She had a beautiful and peaceful transition from life to heaven on the morning of June 2. She will be greatly missed by all those who had the opportunity to know and love her.

Bobbie was born in Salt Lake City on July 2, 1937, to Robinson and Evelyn Wilmarth Wrigley. She graduated from Cyprus High School, where she was an attendant in the Seminary Sweetheart Ball. One of her most appreciated qualities was her ability to listen and her caring for others. Over the years she developed many close and long-lasting friendships.

In her younger years she enjoyed playing the piano and organ at church and loved singing and dancing and being involved in roadshows. Among her fondest memories was spending time with her father in his barber shop and with her favorite horse PeeWee.

Bobbie started working with the well-known Magna dentist Dr Clark who respected and saw her potential. Later she started working for the State of Utah where she met the love of her life - Calvin Johnson when he showed up to pay a parking ticket. They were married in 1961 and blended families from previous relationships.

Life was never dull for Cal and Bobbie. Together they stayed active with family motorcycle rides, boating, jeeping, golfing and a bucket list of other activities. Cal would frequently say he would come up with the ideas, but it was Bobbie who made them happen. Her life was one of compassion, adventure and hard work.

Bobbie supported Cal in all his business enterprises. Together they started the very successful Utah Barricade, followed by Safety Supply and Sign and Mountain West Striping. Mom was very meticulous, making sure the bookkeeping was done correctly working up until the time of her passing.

Mom had a passion for reading and acquiring knowledge about new things. She had a deep love for her Savior Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was so excited to go through the Jordan River Temple and be sealed with family members; it was a very special day for her.

The family wishes to thank the many wonderful neighbors and friends who helped care for Bobbie, surrounding her with love, laughter, visits and countless other acts of service. The family also wishes to give special thanks to Kent and Vickie Sponbeck for their constant care and counsel over many years. Bobbie expressed her gratitude many times, please know how much she loved you all.

The family would also like to give special recognition to the amazing team tending to her care with a specific guardian angel who cared for her above and beyond, giving her direction and comfort often when the situation was very difficult. She was truly blessed and made long-lasting relationships with many of them.

Bobbie Johnson is survived by her children - Vicki Inman (Todd), Cally Johnson (Tony), Cheryl Harding (Mark), and Jeri Rogers. Her grandchildren - Misty Huntsman (Derek), Cody Inman, Riley Rogers (Steph), Curry Inman, Reagan Rogers (Lilliam), Carli Cervantes and Joshua Harding along with her great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Calvin, her son Calvin Jr., her parents, Bob and Evelyn Wrigley, and her sibling Wayne Wrigley (Carol).

Services will be held on Monday, June 9, at 11 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend a viewing on Sunday, June 8th, from 5-7 p.m. and June 9 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Ridge Creek Ward 5730 S. Fashion Blvd. Interment will follow at the Murray City Cemetery.

This is Marilyn Wilmarth Rasmussen. I am the daughter of Gary Wilmarth who is the brother of Evelyn Wrigley. Bobbie is my cousin. I do not take the Deseret News and so I did not get the message of the passing of Bobbie until today when I was browsing through the Deseret News. I am so sorry to learn about her passing. I never would have missed her viewing or funeral. She was an amazing person. She always acknowledged any event in our family. She was so full of energy and fun and talented in so many ways. I will always remember her for her hair style. I´m sure she will be missed by many people.
I know she had my contact information. If you should have it, I would love to visit with you or Vicki.
